QMAG : Queensland Magnesia

Electrofusion

Electrofusion

QMAG also produces high quality electrofused magnesia (EFM) at Parkhurst. EFM is produced by melting calcined magnesia at 2,800-3,000°C in electric arc furnaces. Ingots formed in this process are cooled, stripped and broken up. The product passes through a series of crushing, sorting and screening processes before being loaded in bags or bulk for export. The final product can be crushed and sized to meet individual customers' requirements.

The capacity of the electrofusion plant has been increased progressively since commissioning through de-bottlenecking and process improvements. The plant capacity is currently 30,000tpa.

QMAG sells a range of EFM products defined by chemistry, sizing, BSG and PCS.
