QMAG operates a magnesite mine at Kunwarara and a magnesia production facility at Parkhurst in Rockhampton, Queensland. QMAG also maintains a small corporate office in Brisbane and overseas offices in Lübeck, Germany and in Shanghai, China.
QMAG produces high quality deadburned magnesia (DBM) and electrofused magnesia (EFM) for the refractory industry and caustic calcined magnesia (CCM) for agricultural, metallurgical, paper, and environmental applications. QMAG also sells raw magnesite for a range of industrial and agricultural applications.
QMAG commenced operations in 1991 and has grown to become a fully integrated global magnesia supplier. The operations are 'state-of-the-art' in world terms.
QMAG holds Mining Leases and Mineral Development Licence (MDL) tenure over the extensive resources at Kunwarara, and the adjoining Yaamba deposit, which together comprise the world's largest known accumulation of cryptocrystalline magnesite.
